Our Corporate Group supports the insurance operating groups that provide medical liability, products liability for medical technology and life sciences, legal professional liability, and workers' compensation insurance to our policyholders.

The Corporate Group provides resources to the insurance teams in areas such as Accounting/Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Investments/Treasury, Investor Relations, IT/Information Security and Legal/Compliance. The expertise our corporate team brings to the insurance operating units helps improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our entire organization, including improving standardization of policies and practices, identifying innovative solutions to support all business areas, and maintaining the corporate culture.

We report our investment results and net realized investment gains and losses within our Corporate Segment, reflecting our decision to manage our investments at the corporate level, applying a consistent management strategy to the entire portfolio. The Corporate Segment results also include nonpremium revenues generated outside of our insurance entities, and corporate expenses, including interest expense and U.S. income taxes.
