Community Involvement

ProAssurance cares about the communities we serve. Our team members support local charities and initiatives, as well as national nonprofit organizations. Adhering to our mission, we protect others in and out of the courtroom.

Some community involvement and activities include:

Endowed Chair for Physician Wellness

In 2017, ProAssurance endowed an academic chair and research team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. The faculty position and research efforts will focus on improving physician wellness and addressing health issues unique to physicians. Future additional funding and a gift to the School of Nursing were also announced.

United Way

ProAssurance Companies participate in United Way campaigns to mobilize efforts on improving local education, financial stability, and well-being. Team members regularly volunteer and contribute to local United Way fundraising events in their communities. In 2022, ProAssurance’s headquarters raised over $150,000 through team member participation in office events.

Kids' Chance of America

Eastern Alliance Insurance Group provides financial, volunteer, and leadership support to many Kids’ Chance state organizations, which provide need-based, post-secondary educational scholarships to children of workers seriously or fatally injured on the job.

Office Philanthropies

ProAssurance Companies demonstrate our commitment to Treated Fairly® through giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Team members regularly participate in office fundraising and volunteer efforts for nonprofit organizations. Each office location has their own unique approach to giving back to their community.

Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham

The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham works with philanthropies and nonprofit organizations to improve local communities in Alabama near ProAssurance’s headquarters. The foundation also supports national giving initiatives. ProAssurance collaborates with the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham to support financial aid for disaster relief, education, research programs, and more.
American Heart Association

Advancing healthcare research is an important part of ProAssurance’s mission. ProAssurance supports the Birmingham American Heart Association through fundraising activities and events—including sponsoring the Go Red for Women Luncheon, Birmingham Heart Ball, and Annual Heart Walk.

The Birmingham Heart Walk and Fundraiser helps raise funds to fight cardiovascular disease and prevent strokes. ProAssurance's headquarters has participated in the event since 2013.
